Hundreds Of International Students Set To Come To Australia Under Trial Program

Good news for international students studying in South Australia, the state is launching a trial program that will bring hundreds of international students to Australia next month.

South Australia’s border restrictions have been very strict for international and domestic non-essential travellers, however, they are welcoming 300 students from around the world to Adelaide so they can resume their studies.

Not all seem to agree with their decision and are questioning if this decision contradicts their position on their hard border restrictions that have separated families for months, and wondering if this can hamper the state's safety. On the other hand, many residents believe this is a good move to protect and support the education sector in South Australia.

However, Deputy Chief Public Health Officer Dr Mike Cusack has responded to the criticism stating that all students will have a mandatory quarantine period in medi-hotels and the universities will be paying for the expenses so that they can resume classes safely. He also added, that this pilot program was needed to restart the state's education sector, which has been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
