Stocks Are So 2021, Now You Can Make Money Buying Legos
Stonks are the news of the past, now we invest in memes, sh*tcoins and supposedly toys as well!
Moscow's HSE University published some interesting facts to now further diversify how you can make money. We all know about NFT's and Crypto but now you can even make some dough by reselling unopened legos - and it's a very promising value that's worth your while.
The University examined the prices of 2,322 LEGO sets between 1987 and 2015 and compiled a dataset compromised of information on what price it was sold at and how much they were re-sold during online auctions, you know the unopened, mint condition ones of course.
According to their study, the average return on a LEGO set is 10%-11% annually - that's ALOT bruh. No really, it's a higher return than stocks, bonds or gold can get you.
Usually, you can see the prices become worth your while 2-3 years after the product has been discontinued or retired, and the value can also differ based on what model it is.
For example, a lego figurine could range from 50% all the way to +600% annually! According to Dobrynskaya et al. “Prices of small and very big sets grow faster than prices of medium-sized ones, probably because small sets often contain unique parts or figures, while big ones are produced in small quantities and are more attractive to adults.”
Do you know what collectors thirst for the most? Famous buildings, popular movies, or seasonal holidays. So they have the most promising growth in value. For example, some of the most expensive ones include Millennium Falcon, Cafe On The Corner, Taj Mahal, Death Star II, and The Imperial Star Destroyer.”
You can even keep an eye out for limited edition sets and promotional event exclusives - the rarer, the better!
If you're thinking, "yeah well, this applies to all collectable items", you're not wrong however, Legos are kicking ass of other popular collectables like wine and stamps when it comes to growth in value so best to keep it on your radar bestie!
The best part is LEGO values have almost negligible influence from the state of the stock market, so regardless of a panoramic, market crash etc. The value of your investment is unlikely to change. HSE University even claims this might be the most reliable and accessible way to invest long term.
Also, this is not a market that's on traditional investors radar yet, so this is the best time to get in on the action.
However, like every investment you ever make, research and figure out all the market nuances, see the investment potential in a particular set, and then purchase it.
Did you know you could also make $660k if you had this one particular Harry Potter book, and get paid $3000 to watch an interior design show!
