Believe it not when Harry Potter was first published, Bloomsbury only published 500 copies of Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone which were mostly bound for public libraries.

However, if you were one of the lucky ones that landed the very first edition of the book, Heritage Auctions said that the copy could be work $662,000 AUD (US$471,000)!

When they held the auction the starting bid was a whopping $105,560 AUD!

The success of the Harry Potter series tripled when the first movie was brought to life 20 years ago (way to feel old!)

Back in 2019, The first edition of Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone were supposedly valued at $50,000 USD, that's a massive spike in value in 2 years, don't you think?

How do you find out if you have the golden egg copy of the book?

The key to figuring if you have the right copy is identifying 2 errors. The first is spelling error of ‘philosopher’ on the back cover and the second was ‘1 wand’ in the list of equipment for Harry’s first year" was repeated twice.

The first-ever Harry Potter book I ever had was chewed up by my dog when she was a puppy and it was somewhere in the 90's so I've lost my chance but I'd recommend you dont walk but RUN to your Harry Potter book collection to see if you have landed the jackpot or not!
