The Bachelorette Just Cast Their First Indigenous, Queer Lead And It's About Damn Time
Looks like The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise finally got their ducks in a row and decided to integrate more diversity into their show, and I might finally be inclined to watch this season.
Who is this legend you may ask? It’s Brooke Blurton, an absolutely stunning 26-year-old Noongar-Yamatji woman who identifies as bisexual. Bachelorette will be casting men and women who will battle for her affection. So you know this season actually might not be as predictable as the previous seasons. Let’s hope they keep this momentum going and there is some diversity amongst the rest of the cast too!
The Australian LGBTQ+ community took to Twitter to show their appreciation for this super exciting change in their otherwise very ‘yt’ casting.
With being one of the most-watched reality shows across Australia, this could be the stepping stone to seeing more diversity on television. With how diverse the population is in this country, I trust it would help to improve the state of racism, xenophobia and violence towards the LGBTQI+ community.
