Shocking Research Shows How Many Students Don't Write Their Own Assignments

Contract cheating is spiking in popularity amongst Aussie students, and it’s problematic, to say the least.

We all dread them, but there’s a reason we do assignments - it’s the most used method for us to actually learn and take away something from our degrees but students are now cheating the system and are even getting away with it. I mean you don’t want an architect who cheated through his degree to be building someones home in the future, right?

What is this cheating method that’s bamboozling unis in Australia? It’s called contract cheating, where a student has an arrangement for someone to write their assignments for them. Recent research showed that this form of cheating occurred with 2-4% of Aussie students but now has shockingly spiked to 8-11%, and 95% of these students even bloody get away with it.

Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA) is providing institutions assistance to curb this issue, but current assignment markers aren’t picking up contract cheating so we’ll have to stay tuned to see if this will be something that is a problem that can be solved in real-time or not.

I can’t help but wonder whether this spike is because of online learning and the adversities of this pandemic? is it because of the fine line between assignment help and contract cheating? In the wise words of Cardi B “WHAT WAS THE REASON?”
