6 Theories Explaining Why "Couch Guy" On Tik-Tok Was Super Sus
Selfishly, I'm just glad we're off Berries & Cream Tik-Tok.
Couch guy Tik-Tok has reached EVERYONE's FYP, regardless of what your algorithm normally shows you because that's how big this conspiracy/controversy this has become.
For those who have miraculously not landed on couch guy Tik-Tok here is the video that's taken over everyone's lives.
Basically, people think the response of the boyfriend to his girlfriend surprise was super sus. Netizens have really taken the time to break down the video and point out parts of the video that are sus and why the super awkward-looking reunion was a cause for concern.
Clue 1: The phone passing.
The girl sitting next to him passed the phone to him discreetly, and why was that the first thing she did when Lauren walked into the room? Also, why is his first reaction to seeing his girlfriend grabbing his phone? Something doesn't add up.
Clue 2: The girl next to couch guy was scooching.
Firstly, the girl next to him had her hand on his back. However, as soon as she saw the girlfriend enter, she quickly withdrew her hand and scooched away not once, but TWICE.
Clue 3: His face expression looked like he was in shock (the panic kind)
When she walked into the room, his face looked surprised but in a panic way, not an “I’m excited” way but in a more “what the f*ck” expression! It seemed like he looked at his friends with that expression, giving us the sense that it could have been an ambush.
Clue 4: The kiss-dodge.
When they hugged, it looked like she leaned in for a kiss, and he dodged it faster than she should have dodged his red flags. Why would you not want to kiss your girlfriend that you haven’t seen in ages? Like you ok?
Clue 5: The friends did not look happy
It wasn’t just couch guy, the friends didn’t look excited, In fact, they looked so indifferent. For example, the girl at the other end of the couch looked up from her phone, saw Lauren enter and then went back to scrolling on her phone. Some of them even looked like they were going to die of cringe, the biggest indicator that something was off in my opinion.
Clue 6: It was a really messed up attempt at an intervention
Maybe the friends who helped Lauren plan the surprise had ulterior motives. Maybe they felt the need to help Lauren catch her boyfriend red-handed, maybe he was so in-deep in the relationship with this other girl that this was their way of rescuing him out of that relationship. It’s also possible that one of them was keen on Lauren and wanted to sabotage their relationship? Basically, the theory is that the friends knew all along and didn't seem to be surprised or excited because of that.
The theories are sure crazy but the memes are absolutely wild too, couch guy tik-tok is not just couch-guy slander, people are making parodies of this whole situation. My favourite one has to be Tik-Toker @stanleythestanman version with his cat! It has no reason to be this funny!
Lauren and Robbie have taken to their Tik-Tok accounts to shut down these theories claiming that they're still obsessed with each other, and it wasn't sus at all. But people on the internet love nothing more than drama, especially when it has nothing to do with them.
