An Easy Guide On How To Write An Essay
Writing an essay doesn’t have to be a stressful experience, if you follow these steps you’ll be alright!
Follow this easy essay structure and nail your next assignment:
1. Pre-writing and topic research
Your very first step toward writing a great assignment is figuring out your framework i.e
What topic do you want to write about?
Is there enough information on that topic that can help you cover all the grading criteria?
Do you know what direction you want your assignment to go? Is it an argument against an existing theory, is it an in-depth study of your chosen topic? Figure out what your baseline theme is, it definitely makes it easier to figure out the next steps if you have this determined.
2. Determine the structure and create an outline
Create an outline of all the different sections that your assignment will entail. Every assignment has to have an introduction, conclusion and exec summary but depending on your topic and direction you’ll have to determine what goes in the middle. Once you’ve determined your outline, then decide the order you will tackle these sections, followed by setting small deadlines for each section. That way it becomes less overwhelming.
3. Create the first draft
This is an info dump staged probably the one that will take the longest so brace yourself! your writing doesn’t have to be perfect just yet. Gather all your research, complete writing every section, add your graphs and images, add all your references (don’t leave referencing to the end, trust me!). Also, we’ve compiled the best study playlists you can use to really focus and power through this section.
4. Review and revise
Check if you’ve covered all the grading criteria, whether every section is meaty enough with information, have you used enough references? This step is basically to evaluate if your content is worth that 90+ HD grade.
5. Editing and Proofreading
Now time to polish your academic work of art! Section by section edit your grammar, rearrange paragraphs if you need to, align your content, double-check you’ve referenced correctly and arrange your reference list and appendix if needed.
6. Submit
You did it, you completed your assignment before it destroyed your life yay! If you like living on the edge make sure you have stable internet and take a screenshot of your submission being processed to make sure you don’t get into trouble for submitting late. My recommendation? At least try submitting 30 mins before the deadline just to be safe!
