8 Thoughts Everyone Has While Watching 'Emily In Paris'
Emily In Paris has definitely divided the crowd, some of them loved it and some of them did not.
Emily in Paris has all the elements to make the perfect rom-com show. Some loved the style, streets and clichés, however, some were not here for the idealistic vibe this show delivered. Whether you loved or hated the show, we’re confident these thoughts crossed your mind.
1. How did Emily magically land a job in PARIS, without knowing how to string a sentence together in French?
A woman who speaks no French, has no prior experience in luxury fashion, is picked to work at a Parisian marketing agency and gets an apartment with a view WHAT? Where can we find these dream job opportunities that require no relevant experience, and why are they not on Seek?
2. Clichés here, clichés there, clichés everywhere
If you’ve watched any American movie depicting what Paris is like, you know there is always a beret, Pain au chocolat or croissant and day drinking, Emily in Paris definitely brought all those clichés back. It’s like you can’t stop criticising the predictability but also can’t stop watching it and low key, enjoying it!
3. We forgot how gorgeous France is, thanks Covid.
All the lack of travelling and borders closing really made us forget about all the gorgeous cobblestone streets, the cafes, the champagne vineyards. If for no other reason, watching Emily in Paris will let you take a dream vacation in a clichéd magical version of Europe. We are not complaining about that!
4. Heels in Paris?
Turns out Emily is not just ‘Ringarde’ she is also a superhuman who can wear heels on cobblestone streets and not break her neck, must be nice to be a fashion ninja.
5. The Fashion, LA Mode!
Honestly, why do all these rom-com shows make it seem like mid-level corporate or marketing professionals can afford heaps of Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton?
We don’t really care though, because its such a delight to watch, and the show has also managed to capture what Americans think Parisians dress like (aka Emily’s wardrobe), and what Parisians actually dress like (aka her stunning boss Sylvie).
There is a reason that the berets, cocktail dresses, and an array of stunning handbags from the fashion gods has been the most praised part about this show. It’s hard to watch other people live out your dreams.
6. Why does everyone assume Parisians know nothing about Social Media?
Emily speaks to the Parisian marketing firm as they’ve never tapped into social media marketing before. We’re pretty sure that one of the fashion capitals of the world has used social media engagement to boost brands and make their clients happy.
7. Does Camille have feelings for Emily?
A twist we can get on board with, S'il vous plaît! We just sensed something in the way Camille looked at her, and at this point, we won’t be surprised. Everyone in the show seems to fall in love with her instantly so why should Camille be left out of the mix?
8. This show is not the best, but we’ve already googled the release date of season 2
We think Emily in Paris is like Rebecca Black’s Song - Friday, everyone loves to hate it. It would not be a surprise if the second season caught as much media attention as the first one. Who knows, we might just write a sequel to this article too.
