These Food Trends Are Going To Be All Over In 2021
Fashion trends are not the only thing that is being forecasted for 2021.
Here are the top food trends that I think will take over our lives this year:
1. Plant-based products
More and more people are flirting with the idea of turning vegan and this year is no exception. However plant-based protein is also taking the world by storm and a lot of people are simply choosing plant-based products because they taste so damn good! Whatever might be your reason, you should definitely give plant-based products a go!
2. Brekkie food
When you don’t have to commute in the morning and actually have time in the morning to ease into your day, naturally you have more time to think about breakfast. So instead of just eating toast in the morning this year, you will see more effort put into the most important meal of the day! The idea of pancakes, smoothie bowls and avo-toast on weekdays? Is always a yes from me!
3. Tik-Tok food
Tik-Tok and extra time have made everyone creative with their food - pancake cereal, whipped peanut-butter milk, making Dalgona coffee mainstream, best believe this trend is moving into 2021, and I can’t wait to see what fun trends are next!
4. Pickling/Fermenting
Pickled food, homemade kimchi and so many things that can be made in a mason jar are here to stay in 2021. It’s good for your health and your tastebuds.
5. Homemade pasta
Goodbye sourdough and hello homemade pasta! Not only is fresh past 100x more delicious but it’s also great fun to make with your friends and family. Even though we can’t travel to Italy (not yet!) we can Italy to us with some fresh gnocchi and pappardelle right?
6. World foods
Everyone (including me!) eventually got bored of the 5 things they knew how to cook and ventured into different cuisines to explore new delicious flavours and expand their palette. New spices, new me!
7. Desserts for one
Okay, this trend is not as grim as it sounds, you know how sometimes you crave cake but just can’t be bothered to make a whole cake? That is when you will be grateful for this trend, mason jar tiramisu, birthday cupcakes, chocolate mousse for one? Absolutely count me in!
Some familiar trends bleeding into 2021 and some new ones out here to shine, cant wait to try them all.
